The client had injured his lower back, was barely able to walk, and it took minutes to work out how to get out of bed without feeling pain at every movement. Nine months later, still in pain, he had an RMI which confirmed doubled herniated discs.
The client is signified by the Sun, the ruler of the 1st house. The Sun is accidentally debilitated by being situated in the malefic 8th house.
The sickness is signified by Jupiter, the ruler of the Sun. Jupiter is retrograde in Leo at 13.12 degrees. The description of Jupiter-in-Leo type illnesses given by the 17th-century authority on medical diagnosis by astrology, Richard Saunders, fits closely with the problems the querent described. Jupiter is entering station here, which fits with a ‘not moving about much’ type of illness.
